For those of you who take acid

or, just feel like watching a movie that might convince you that acid would be a good idea - check out the trailer for MirrorMask : you may or may not have heard of it (I didn't until about 5 minutes ago, thank god for the internet) - it's a story by Neil Gaiman, one of the most brilliant/deranged writers out there today. It's only playing in select theaters, so good luck - unless you are a pirate, and just go download the damned thing instead of putting any effort into supporting the movie industry. I could care less either way, truthfully......arrrrrr.

morals vs. principles

So, I was reading a post on E-ninja's blog about how atheists feel about morality, and I decided to wax philosophically for a sec. So, regarding morality:

I've always felt that morality is the feeling that you wouldn't do something based on what other people would think of you. Conversely, I believe principles are the reasons you wouldn't do something because of how you feel. So, like myself, you can have principles without morals. For example, you could have someone that has no problem with stealing from people (no morals), but will not steal from the elderly (principles). By the... (more)

Damn the hurdy-gurdy man! He did it again!

Does anyone even know what a hurdy-gurdy man is? Besides me, I mean. I laugh, but its not as funny if you don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. Ooh, dirty word. Sweet. Anyway, hurdy-gurdy. Its a weird looking instrument - you can read about it here, if you really care. But really, this picture says it all:

That's right, a man with a monkey!

shazbot! If only I tried harder

You know, to update my blog. If I tried a little harder, maybe I'd actually update it on some sort of schedule, and people would read it. Oh well, what can I do?

So, it's been a long week. Last week, for the start of my vacation my oldest pet cat died, my computer went blammo (requiring a full wipe/reinstall), my jeep went screwy (requiring a $600 tuneup), I backed into a new car at a car dealership while taking my mom car-shopping because I was driving her crap-mobile (requiring some god-awful expensive repair, I'm sure....details will be forthcoming), and I got ridiculously drunk at...
....the Red Cross goes and screws me over. I had the two weeks scheduled off work, I stayed up yesterday almost 24 hours to take a stinking class from the Red Cross about disaster services, I was going through the whole process....... then they went and changed my deployment date and moved the minimum requirement to 3 weeks instead of 2. This is a problem because I cannot get any other time off work, because my company is an evil empire. They have a strict policy about vacation time now because of a recent re-org, so I won't be able to take any time off from now until November, which... (more)

Doing my part for the relief effort

Alright, I don't update almost ever, but this merits posting. This week I'm going for two training sessions for the Red Cross - a 1 1/2 hr training course on Wednesday and a 4 hr training course on Thursday. Next week I will be gone for 2 weeks in New Orleans, working disaster recovery with the Red Cross.

I know, it doesn't sound like me. I normally cause suffering, not work to alleviate it. However, it was an instinctual decision I made, and it just felt right. So, I'm gonna try to stick with it. We will see what happens. If you are interested in learning more, just... (more)

Man, it's been a long night. Some days I just want to quit my job and go live in the mountains somewhere, in a cave. It's rough working the night shift, because you lose touch with a lot of different parts of your life. I can't imagine what people did before the Internet - at least this way I can catch up on email and stuff. It sucks though, because I've been sitting here waiting for replies to some emails - it's hard to flirt with women via email, because if they dont answer in a day or two you wonder 'did I say something horrible, or is she no longer interested?'

In the same vein... (more)

There's a new song by Staind, called 'Right Here'. It's dedicated to two special women - one who will always have me right here waiting, and one who knows what it's like, and is right here waiting with me.

---------

I know I've been mistaken

But just give me a break and see the changes that I've made

I've got some imperfections

But how can you collect them all and throw them in my face
But you always find a way to keep me right here waiting

You always find the words to say to keep me right here waiting

And if you chose to walk away I'd still be right here... (more)

Man, it's been forever and a day. I haven't read anyone's blogs, haven't updated my blogs, nothing. I suck. Oh well, it's the price you pay for loving me, which includes sporadic updates and slow-moving madness. Lets see, moving on....

As much as I hate myspace, it did one good thing for me a few weeks ago - I had a profile on there that I rarely ever checked, and just saw that someone from back home emailed me. I say back home because even though its only an 1 1/2 hours away, more than just time and distance separate my hometown of Midland from northern Va. For those of you who had... (more)
